A cook is primarily responsible for food preparation in restaurants, catering businesses, or large institutions. Responsibilities may include portioning and cooking food, preparing cold and hot appetizers, baking desserts and pastries, slicing meat and vegetables, broiling meats, grilling fish, making salads, mixing dressings, blending sauces, and much more, depending on the menu.
